The On-the-Job Training of
Jean Rhaye Christopher T. Mendoza
Introduction.
On-the-job training (OJT) plays a vital role in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world professional experience. For Jean Rhaye Christopher T. Mendoza, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student at the University of San Carlos, this phase of his academic journey became an opportunity to apply his skills, expand his knowledge, and prepare for a future career in the IT industry. His internship at InstallersPH IT Solutions provided him with hands-on exposure to both technical and creative aspects of the field, allowing him to grow as a well-rounded IT professional.
Company and Training Overview.
Jean Rhaye completed his OJT at InstallersPH IT Solutions, a company specializing in IT hardware solutions such as CCTV systems, biometric access controls, and network infrastructure. During his training period from August 2025 to February 2026, he was assigned to two major departments: the IT Department and the Marketing Department. This dual exposure allowed him to experience both the operational and promotional sides of the business, giving him a comprehensive understanding of how an IT solutions company functions.
Technical Exposure in IT Department.
A significant portion of his training focused on technical tasks within the IT Department. He actively participated in site inspections, where he helped assess client locations and determine the appropriate setup for installations. He also assisted in the installation and configuration of various systems, including CCTV cameras, biometric devices, wireless access points, and network equipment. These hands-on activities enhanced his understanding of real-world IT applications beyond theoretical knowledge.
In addition, Jean Rhaye was involved in troubleshooting and maintenance tasks, where he helped resolve issues related to network connectivity, device malfunctions, and system configurations. He also contributed to internal processes such as biometric registration for employees and computer setup, which strengthened his skills in system administration and IT support.
Creative and Organizational Work in the Marketing Department.
Aside from technical responsibilities, Jean Rhaye also gained experience in the Marketing Department. He assisted in content creation by capturing photos and videos of ongoing projects, editing media using tools like Canva, and writing articles for the company’s website. He learned how to manage digital assets, organize files, and track project progress through structured workflows.
He also participated in the review and publishing process, ensuring that all content met company standards before being posted on platforms such as WordPress and social media. This experience helped him develop creativity, attention to detail, and an understanding of digital marketing strategies in the IT industry.
Skills Development and Key Learnings.
Throughout his OJT, Jean Rhaye developed a wide range of skills. Technically, he gained practical knowledge in network configuration, device installation, and IT troubleshooting. Organizationally, he improved his time management and documentation skills by working with tracking systems and structured workflows. Professionally, he enhanced his communication, adaptability, and teamwork abilities by collaborating with different departments.
One of his key realizations was that IT work is not only about technology but also about providing solutions that directly impact people and businesses. He also learned the importance of following proper processes to ensure quality and efficiency in every task.
