Starlink Installation for Prime Infrastructure Capital at Binaliw Landfill.

Introduction.

A site inspection was conducted at Purok Boongon, Tabuelan, Cebu to evaluate the feasibility of extending an existing Starlink internet connection to nearby households. The purpose of the inspection was to assess the physical layout of the area, identify potential challenges, and determine the most effective network solutions that would provide stable, reliable, and high-speed internet connectivity for the neighbors.

Site Inspection Overview.

During the inspection, it was confirmed that one household in the area currently has an active Starlink internet service. Due to limited connectivity options in the location, neighboring households expressed interest in sharing this connection. The inspection focused on distance measurement, line-of-sight evaluation, cable routing possibilities, and environmental factors that could affect network performance.

The first neighboring house is located at a manageable distance from the Starlink source, while the second neighbor is approximately 300 meters away, presenting additional technical considerations. Terrain conditions, existing structures, and possible obstructions were carefully reviewed to ensure that any proposed solution would meet performance and reliability standards.

Identified Issue.

The main issue identified during the inspection is how to distribute the Starlink internet connection without compromising speed, stability, and long-term reliability. Extending connectivity over long distances can result in signal loss, latency, or interference if not properly designed. The challenge is to implement a solution that balances performance, cost, and installation time while ensuring consistent service for all connected neighbors.

Proposed Network Solutions.

For the first neighbor, the recommended solution is a wired connection using an access point and Cat6 Ethernet cable. This approach ensures stable data transmission, low latency, and minimal signal degradation. Cat6 cabling is suitable for short-distance connections and provides a reliable and cost-effective solution for extending internet access within close proximity. And for the second neighbor, two possible options were presented based on performance requirements and deployment considerations.

Option 1: Fiber Cabling Conversion.

The primary recommendation is the use of fiber optic cabling to cover the 300-meter distance. Fiber technology allows high-speed data transmission over long distances without performance loss and is resistant to electromagnetic interference. Although this option requires more time, materials, and labor, it offers the most reliable and future-proof solution, ensuring consistent internet speed and stability.

Option 2: Wireless Point-to-Point Connection.

An alternative option involves deploying two wireless devices configured for point-to-point communication over the 300-meter distance. This solution is faster to install and more cost-efficient since it avoids extensive cabling. However, it is considered less reliable due to possible signal interference, weather conditions, and alignment challenges. While feasible, this option carries some uncertainty in long-term performance.

Project Status.

Following the inspection, the technical team prepared and submitted a detailed proposal outlining the findings, recommended solutions, equipment requirements, and estimated timelines. The proposal has been presented to the client, and the team is currently awaiting approval before proceeding with implementation.

Conclusion.

The access point site inspection at Purok Boongon highlights the importance of proper planning when extending internet connectivity in remote or shared-network environments. By offering both wired and wireless solutions, the proposed design provides flexibility while prioritizing performance and reliability. Once approved, the implementation of the recommended solution is expected to significantly improve internet access for neighboring households and support their growing connectivity needs.
