Naipapakita ba ng Price Verifier ang mga Promo at Discounted Price?
Price Checker Installation: From Site Assessment to Customer-Ready Setup.
Introduction.
In today’s retail environment, technology plays an important role in providing customers with accurate and accessible product information. One example is the Price Verifier, which allows customers to quickly check the price of an item before making a purchase.
But what happens when an item is on sale?
If a discounted price is displayed on the shelf, will the same promotional price automatically appear on the Price Verifier?
In our demonstration, the item was on sale, but the Price Verifier displayed ₱190.00, which was the regular price instead of the discounted price.
So, why does this happen?
Why Does the Regular Price Appear?
A Price Verifier displays pricing information that comes from the store’s database or POS system. It does not automatically calculate or interpret promotional pricing unless the relevant promotional information is included in the data provided by the system.
If only the regular price is stored or sent to the Price Verifier, then only the regular price will be displayed.
This is why proper price configuration and synchronization between the POS, database, and Price Verifier are important.
What Happens When There Is a Promotion?
Retail stores use different types of promotions, such as percentage discounts, fixed-amount discounts, Buy One Take One offers, and limited-time promotions.
Promotions may also have specific start and end dates. In some setups, the discount is only calculated by the POS when the customer reaches the checkout.
Because of this, a promotional price displayed on the shelf does not automatically mean that the same price will appear on the Price Verifier. It depends on how the promotional data is configured and transmitted by the system.
How Can the Promotional Price Appear on the Price Verifier?
For a promotional price to appear on the Price Verifier, the correct promo price and validity dates must be stored in the database or system and properly transmitted to the Price Verifier.
For example, if an item’s regular price is ₱190.00 and its promotional price is ₱150.00, the system needs to contain the ₱150.00 promotional price together with the period during which the promotion is valid.
Once the promotion ends, the displayed price should return to the regular price, depending on the configuration and synchronization of the POS and database.
Why Is Accurate Price Information Important?
Imagine a customer sees a SALE sign on the shelf. To confirm the price, they scan the item using the Price Verifier—but the regular price appears.
This can create confusion and make the customer wonder which price is correct.
With properly configured and updated pricing information, retailers can provide more consistent price information throughout the customer’s shopping experience.
With just one scan, customers can quickly check the available price information.
And when the promotional data is properly configured, that scan can turn into a simple:
“Oh, there’s a sale!”
Conclusion.
A Price Verifier is a useful tool for improving price transparency, customer convenience, and the overall shopping experience. However, the accuracy of the information it displays depends on the data provided by the POS or database.
For retailers offering promotional pricing, it is important to ensure that the promo price, validity dates, and pricing data synchronization are properly configured so customers can see the correct information.
In retail, every scan is an opportunity to make the shopping experience simpler, more transparent, and more convenient for your customers.
