Introduction.

Reliable CCTV systems are essential for maintaining security, monitoring daily operations, and protecting valuable assets. However, even the most advanced surveillance systems can experience technical issues when supporting equipment such as power supplies, UPS units, and ventilation systems are not properly maintained. During the first day of IT support service, our technical team was tasked with diagnosing and resolving a CCTV system malfunction that had rendered the monitoring and recording functions inoperable.

Identifying the Cause of the Problem.

Upon arriving at the site at approximately 12:30 PM, the technical team conducted a thorough inspection of the CCTV monitoring and recording system. Initial findings revealed that the centralized power supply had failed due to excessive heat buildup. Further investigation showed that the entire CCTV setup was installed inside a regular wooden cabinet that was both hidden and locked. While this setup provided physical security for the equipment, it severely restricted airflow.

The lack of proper ventilation caused heat to accumulate inside the cabinet over an extended period. As temperatures increased, the centralized power supply became stressed and eventually malfunctioned. The absence of cooling mechanisms and adequate airflow significantly contributed to the failure of the system’s critical power components.

Replacement and Upgrade Activities.

To restore the CCTV system, the team proceeded with the replacement of the damaged centralized power supply. In addition, several supporting devices were upgraded to improve system reliability and protection.

The team installed a new Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to provide battery backup during power interruptions. This ensures that the CCTV recording system can continue operating even during temporary power outages, preventing the loss of important surveillance footage.

A voltage regulator was also installed to stabilize incoming electrical power and protect sensitive CCTV equipment from voltage fluctuations, surges, and irregular power conditions. Furthermore, the existing AVR and exhaust fan were replaced to improve overall system performance and cooling efficiency.

The addition of a functional exhaust fan will help remove excess heat from the cabinet, creating a more suitable operating environment for the surveillance equipment. These upgrades significantly reduce the risk of future overheating incidents and extend the lifespan of the installed devices.

Current System Status.

After completing the replacement and installation activities, the team successfully restored the CCTV monitoring and recording functions. The surveillance system is now operational and capable of performing its primary security functions once again.

Although the major issue has been resolved, several remaining tasks still require completion. Additional finishing work, testing, and optimization activities have been scheduled for a follow-up service visit to ensure the entire system operates at peak performance.

Conclusion.

The first day of IT support service successfully addressed a critical CCTV system failure caused by overheating and inadequate ventilation. Through the replacement of the centralized power supply, UPS, AVR, voltage regulator, and exhaust fan, the team restored system functionality while implementing improvements designed to prevent similar issues in the future. The CCTV monitoring and recording system is now operational, providing the client with renewed security coverage while preparations continue for the remaining work during the next scheduled service visit.
