Introduction.
InstallersPH IT Solutions conducted a CCTV system inspection near Wharf, Lapu-Lapu following a reported issue with the client’s existing surveillance system. The service visit focused on identifying the source of the problem through systematic testing of the DVR, monitor, HDMI cable, Ethernet connections, wireless connectivity, and internal DVR components.
Site Inspection and Initial Assessment.
The technical team arrived at the location at approximately 10:16 AM and waited for the client to arrive. The actual inspection began at around 11:03 AM.
The team first examined the overall CCTV setup, including the wiring and connections attached to the DVR. Initial troubleshooting focused on the possibility of an issue with the wiring or display monitor.
Monitor and HDMI Cable Testing.
To determine whether the monitor was causing the problem, the DVR was connected to other available monitors. Despite changing the display, the issue continued to persist.
The team then replaced the existing HDMI cable with another cable to determine whether a defective connection was affecting the video output. After testing the replacement HDMI cable, the problem remained unresolved.
Network and Ethernet Testing.
The troubleshooting process also included testing the wireless connection between the DVR and the client’s mobile phone. The phone was unable to establish a connection with the DVR through Wi-Fi.
The team also replaced the Ethernet cable and tested additional Ethernet cables to rule out a network cable issue. However, the DVR continued to experience the same problem despite the different cables and connections tested.
Internal DVR Inspection.
As part of the final troubleshooting procedure, the team requested the client’s permission to open the DVR for further inspection. The internal components and connections were carefully examined.
The internal wires were disconnected and reconnected to determine whether a loose or improperly connected component could be causing the issue. Despite these additional troubleshooting steps, the system continued to malfunction.
Identifying the Possible Source.
After completing the necessary tests, the technical team determined that the DVR was the most likely source of the problem. Since different monitors, HDMI cables, Ethernet cables, wireless connections, and internal connections had already been tested, the possibility of an internal DVR fault or system corruption became more likely.
Further repair would require proper assessment by the supplier or replacement of the affected equipment.
Recommended Solutions.
The client was advised of two possible options. The first option was to contact the original DVR supplier and request warranty service, if the unit remains covered by its warranty.
