500 Hours of Learning and Growth: Northwest Samar State University Interns Complete Their Training.
Introduction.
The transition from the third year of college to the fourth year is an important stage in every student’s academic journey. For students, summer is not only a time to take a break from classes but also an opportunity to gain practical experience and prepare for the challenges of their final year and future careers.
This summer, Northwest Samar State University – Main Campus students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering took that opportunity by completing their required internship training at InstallersPH IT Solutions. From June 6 to August 7, 2026, the interns successfully rendered 500 training hours, gaining valuable exposure to a professional workplace before returning to school as incoming fourth-year students.
A Summer of Learning and Experience.
The internship served as a bridge between the students’ academic learning and the realities of the professional environment. Rather than spending their summer solely away from school, they used the break to develop practical skills, understand workplace responsibilities, and experience how teams operate in an actual business setting.
Throughout their training, the interns were assigned to the IT and Marketing Departments, where they participated in various tasks and activities based on their respective assignments.
Their time at InstallersPH allowed them to observe professional workflows, collaborate with employees, handle responsibilities, and gain a better understanding of how the knowledge they learn in school can be applied in the workplace.
Developing Professional Skills.
Beyond technical and academic knowledge, the internship helped the students strengthen important workplace skills.
During their 500-hour training, they demonstrated dedication, professionalism, responsibility, adaptability, and willingness to learn. These qualities are valuable as they prepare for their fourth year of college and eventually enter the professional world.
The experience also encouraged them to develop better communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills. These lessons are not always learned inside the classroom but become especially meaningful when students experience real workplace situations.
A Meaningful Summer Before Fourth Year.
Completing their internship marks an important milestone before the students return to their academic responsibilities. After spending their summer gaining practical experience at InstallersPH, they now move forward as incoming fourth-year students, bringing with them new knowledge and workplace experiences that can complement their continued studies.
Their internship experience may also give them a clearer perspective on the career opportunities available after graduation and help them identify the skills they want to continue developing during their final year.
