CCTV Site Inspection at TDT Powersteel Corp.

Site Inspection Video.
Site Visit Overview.
On June 23, 2026, our technical team conducted a CCTV site inspection at TDT Powersteel Corp. following reports of a malfunctioning surveillance system. The client stated that the CCTV system had not been operating properly for approximately two weeks, with no camera feeds appearing on the monitor. The inspection aimed to identify the source of the problem and assess the overall condition of the existing CCTV installation.
Initial System Inspection.
Upon arrival, the team gathered information from the client regarding the issue and performed an initial assessment of the CCTV system. The site was equipped with a total of six CCTV cameras strategically installed throughout the facility. Two cameras were positioned at the entrance, three cameras were installed on the first floor, and one camera was located on the second floor. Despite the cameras being physically in place, no video output was being displayed on the monitor connected to the recording system.
Troubleshooting Procedures.
To determine the cause of the issue, the team inspected the DVR and examined the existing wiring connections. The cables were disconnected and reconnected as part of the troubleshooting process to verify whether poor connections were causing the loss of video feeds. Various checks were performed on the camera inputs and system connections to isolate the source of the problem.
As part of the diagnostic process, the team initially recommended bringing the existing DVR to the office for further testing. However, the client informed the team that a spare DVR was available on-site. The original Dahua DVR was temporarily replaced with the spare Hikvision DVR, and all camera connections were transferred for testing purposes.
Testing Results and Findings.
After connecting the cameras to the Hikvision DVR, the monitor displayed the message “Input Signal Out of Range.” Additional troubleshooting steps were carried out, including reconnecting cables and verifying the integrity of the connections. Despite these efforts, no camera images appeared on the monitor.
Once testing was completed, the original Dahua DVR was reinstalled. However, the CCTV system remained in the same condition as before, with no camera feeds visible. This indicated that the issue extended beyond a simple DVR replacement and required a more comprehensive evaluation of the system infrastructure.
Observations on Existing Installation.
During the inspection, several concerns were identified regarding the current CCTV installation. The existing wiring was found to be non-standard and consisted of thin cables that could easily detach from their connections. The cable quality appeared similar to low-cost cables commonly sold online and was not suitable for long-term CCTV applications.
Although Cat-6 cables were being utilized, the installation quality and cable terminations required further assessment. The team also observed poor cable management throughout the system, making troubleshooting and maintenance more difficult. According to the client, the CCTV system is approximately one year old and has experienced similar issues multiple times in the past.
Recommended Corrective Actions.
Based on the findings, the team recommended a complete rewiring of the CCTV system using properly rated and industry-standard cabling. The replacement of the existing power supplies with a centralized power supply system was also advised to provide stable and reliable power to all cameras. Additionally, all low-quality cables should be replaced, and proper cable management practices should be implemented.
Conclusion.
The site inspection at TDT Powersteel Corp. revealed several factors that may be contributing to the recurring CCTV issues experienced by the client. While testing confirmed that the problem could not be immediately resolved through DVR replacement alone, the assessment highlighted significant concerns regarding the quality of the existing wiring, cable terminations, and overall installation practices. Implementing the recommended corrective actions will help improve system stability, simplify future maintenance, and enhance the reliability of the surveillance system. Through proper rewiring, upgraded power distribution, and organized cable management, the client can achieve a more dependable CCTV system capable of supporting long-term security and monitoring requirements.
