BIOMETRIC SYSTEM NETWORK RESTORATION AND CONFIGURATION.
Introduction.
A network connectivity issue was encountered at PTN involving the site’s biometric system. The issue occurred during a maintenance activity in which the PTN maintenance team installed a new network switch. During the replacement, the network connection of the biometric device was accidentally disconnected, causing the device to lose communication with the network.
Our team was assigned to inspect, troubleshoot, and restore the biometric system’s network connectivity. The service focused on restoring the physical network connection, configuring the device, and verifying its operation.
Network Connectivity Inspection.
Upon arrival, our team conducted an inspection of the biometric system and its network connection. The assessment identified that the network cable connected to the biometric device had been disconnected from the newly installed network switch.
Since the biometric device relies on network connectivity for communication and system access, restoring the physical connection was the first step toward resolving the issue.
Network Cable Reconnection.
The disconnected network cable was properly reconnected to the network switch. The connection between the biometric device and the switch was then checked to ensure that the physical network link was properly established.

A static IP address was assigned to the biometric device as part of the configuration. Using a static IP helps the device maintain a consistent network address, reducing the possibility of connectivity problems that may occur when an IP address changes.
This configuration also makes the biometric device easier to access and manage within the network environment.
Testing and Verification.
After completing the network configuration, the team performed connectivity tests on the biometric system. The device was accessed through its web interface to verify that network communication had been successfully restored.
The connection between the biometric device and network infrastructure was checked to ensure stable operation. The successful access and testing confirmed that the device was properly communicating over the network.
Result.
The biometric system network connection was successfully restored after the disconnected cable was identified and reconnected. The device was also configured with a static IP address to provide a more stable and consistent network connection.
Following the troubleshooting and configuration, the biometric system was successfully accessed and tested through its web interface. The system was confirmed to be functioning properly and operational after the service.
