Baguio City CCTV Ordinance: What Business Owners Need to Know.
Introduction.
Security is an important responsibility for every business establishment. Whether operating a restaurant, supermarket, office, or commercial facility, protecting employees, customers, and business assets should always be a priority. In Baguio City, this responsibility is reinforced through City Ordinance No. 11, Series of 2017, also known as the “No CCTV, No Business Permit Ordinance.”
The ordinance requires covered establishments to install and maintain CCTV systems as part of the city’s security measures. For business owners, understanding these requirements is essential when applying for or renewing a business permit.
Understanding Baguio City Ordinance No. 11, Series of 2017.
Baguio City Ordinance No. 11, Series of 2017, mandates the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, video recorders, and monitors in covered business establishments.
The measure includes establishments such as restaurants, schools, hospitals, shopping malls, movie houses, supermarkets, groceries, entertainment centers, office buildings, public utility terminals, banks, gasoline stations, pawnshops, money changers, warehouses, and other similar businesses.
Under the ordinance, these establishments are required to install and maintain CCTV equipment in good working condition. The systems must also operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This means that simply having CCTV cameras installed is not enough. Business owners must ensure that their surveillance equipment remains functional and capable of recording activities within their premises.
Why CCTV Installation and Maintenance Matter.
A properly maintained CCTV system helps businesses monitor daily operations, discourage potential criminal activities, and provide valuable footage when security incidents occur.
However, CCTV equipment may experience technical issues over time. Damaged cables, defective cameras, recording failures, insufficient storage, and network connectivity problems can affect system performance.
Regular maintenance helps identify these problems before they compromise security.
Business owners should pay attention to the following:
Camera Functionality: Ensure that every installed camera is operational and positioned correctly.
Recording Performance: Regularly check whether the recording device captures and saves footage properly.
Storage Capacity: Monitor recording storage and verify that the system retains footage as required.
Network Connectivity: Inspect cables, switches, and network connections to prevent communication interruptions.
Preventive Maintenance: Schedule regular inspections and troubleshooting to keep the entire system working properly.
The Importance of Professional IT Support.
CCTV systems involve more than cameras and monitors. They also depend on recording devices, network infrastructure, power connections, and proper configuration.
Professional IT support helps ensure that these components work together efficiently. Qualified technicians can inspect equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, replace defective components, and perform preventive maintenance.
For businesses in Baguio City, having reliable technical support can help maintain an effective surveillance system and address problems before they affect security operations.
Conclusion.
